Our 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish is a combination of a minimum 10 year old Single Grain and Single Malt whiskey from a select number of casks within our distillery inventory. Finished for a minimum of 1 year in the finest old Oloroso Sherry casks to add complexity on both the nose and palate.
Hinch 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Finish is light brown with a subtle red hue and has aromas of fresh fruit with earthy garden-fresh notes. Subtle layers of stewed fruit with an unmistakable nutty aftertaste – sophisticated and complex. Bold, innovative, contemporary Irish whiskey proudly made in County Down.
TASTING NOTES
Nose
The whiskey opens with the aroma of ripe orchard fruits, such as juicy apples and pears. The sweetness of barley sugar and vanilla quickly follow, providing a perfect balance to the rich and slightly tart red fruit notes. Subtle layers of stewed fruit emerge, adding complexity to the nose.
Palate
The first sip reveals sugared malty cereal flavours that are quickly joined by the sweetness of nougat and chocolate-covered marzipan. The dry notes of fruity sherry come through, providing a touch of sultana and a burst of fresh fruit sweetness. The taste ends with ripe pear and a hint of lychee, followed by an unmistakable nutty aftertaste.
Finish
The finish is long and satisfying, with lingering red berries and a hint of earthy vanilla pod. The whiskey leaves a pleasant and complex aftertaste that lingers on the palate, with subtle notes of stewed fruit and a nutty finish.
