Light golden in colour with a sweet tar, smoky, woodish nose. Immediate strong peat flavours with lingering and nuanced fruit undertones which survive the peat storm. Sweet, smoky, and woody. The aromas of caramelized oak, woody cinnamon, honey-roasted ham, and rock salt are all present, but are immediately followed by a wave of peat smoke, giving it a unique character.
On the palate, the whiskey has strong peat flavours with undertones of fruit and a hint of liquorice. The initial taste is of smoked nuts and barbecued meats, which then gives way to charred herbs and a fresh fruit sweetness. The flavour profile is then completed by a building chili spice that intensifies as you drink.
The finish is long and satisfying, with notes of charred chili pepper and bonfire smoke lingering on the tongue.
